I am so excited to share the images from Emily and Jordan’s amazing wedding day because their whole celebration from their first look to the decor was out of this world gorgeous! Not only are Emily and Jordan just laid-back, funny, and kind, but they are both very adventurous! You see, their wedding day started off with sunshine and clear skies, but shortly after they shared their First Look, some dark clouds rolled in and it started to pour! . . .Read More
For me, every wedding feels like a Royal Wedding day because that’s how special each and every one of my CCP Couples are. All of their careful planning has finally come together and all of their closest friends and family travel to see them make their marriage vows. . . But how cool is it that Kristen and Dave will share their wedding anniversary with Prince Harry and Megan Markle?! . . .Read More
Kara and Kevin love traveling and it was through a church trip to Madrid, Spain and to The Vatican in Rome that they became really close friends! For their engagement session, Kara and Kevin wanted to head back to Kara's Alma Mater; the University of Michigan. I love the city of Ann Arbor and the University of Michigan campus so much because the architecture is just so stunning! Even though I am a frequent visitor, I feel like there are always new places to discover with every couple who has a love for U of M. . .Read More
Chelsea and Nick are two of the most fun and laid-back couples I've had a chance to work with and even though they had so much anticipation and nerves leading up to the ceremony, these two were a dream to work with and made my job of capturing their love so effortless! They define a fun-loving, adventurous, outdoorsy couple in love and they are everything I hope for when I photograph clients! I wish for laughter and joy, for romantic portraits at sunset, and for down-to-earth, old souls with big hearts for the people in their lives! . . .Read More
Since Jess and Pat live in separate locations (sometimes a whole country or continent apart!), they don't see each other everyday like most of my engaged couples and they take advantage of any opportunity to see each other! Both Jess and Pat are in the Air Force, and sometimes have to go to great lengths to spend time together, like the time when Pat proposed.
Jess and Pat found out that they would both be able to get some time off if they were running in the Air Force Marathon . . . so they decided to enter into the marathon just so they could have a few days together!!! . . .Read More
It is such an amazing gift when the right people work together! I genuinely love connecting with couples who have the same approach to life and love that I do! My couples are kind, romantic, approachable, love good style elements, and are inspired by architecture and the outdoors, and Katie and Josh are no different! . . .Read More
Did you see what I did there with the title?! Madison and Brandon's engagement session took place in downtown Ann Arbor, MI, and I just lovelovelove that they incorporated so many personal details into their engagement portraits - like Madison's love of books and the couple's love of all things colorful and happy! . . .Read More
It was the last weekend in October. The beautiful shades of burnt orange, brown, yellow, and red burst forth from every stem and tree leaf in sight. Alex and Nick had stolen a moment away from friends and had decided to take one last stroll in the amazing fall weather to take it all in before winter took over. Alex – a girl after my own heart – was so taken with the trees and colors that she snapped a few pictures and seemed lost in the moment with nature. When she finally looked up from her camera, Nick had wandered a little farther along the path and Alex found him in the middle of a crowded group of trees. Nick said, “Come look at this,” and then she noticed at the base of one of the trees was a bouquet of roses. With a smile Alex picked of the roses left against the tree and when she stood upright again and turned back to Nick, he was down on one knee with a ring!Read More
Students with bags and important looking textbooks bustled past Melissa and Jeremy eager to get to class or to meet-up with friends on the University of Michigan campus. As Melissa and Jeremy strolled the collegiate grounds in Ann Arbor, during their engagement session with me, they began to reminisce about their time together. They laugh about it now, but these two met unofficially for the first time in high school government class. Melissa was the girl who sat behind Jeremy and each thought the other weird.
They didn't know it then, but over the next few years Melissa and Jeremy would begin their relationship, fall in love, attend college together, binge watch countless episodes on Netflix, and eventually become engaged.
As we explored the different areas of the beautiful campus, I couldn't help but see all the love between Jeremy and Melissa. He would make a face or noise and she would laugh and in turn, her laugh made him grin from ear to ear. Melissa would crack a joke or a funny face and it was as if I wasn't even there in these tender moments. I felt honored knowing that I was given the opportunity to photograph two funny, smart, sassy, and genuine people and I cannot wait for their wedding next year!
P.S. Fun Fact: They love the movie "Mean Girls," and since this engagement happened on a Wednesday, I felt it was necessary that I wear pink to their session. :)
It's not every couple that when you say, "Let's do something fun like a dance off," they bust out into these seriously awesome dance moves!
Being born into a home that is strictly Green and White (Michigan State reference) - not that it really matters a whole lot to me - I was enlighten by Melissa and Jeremy that there is a superstition when it comes to the "M" on the diag. Supposedly, should one stand on the "M" it will bring you bad luck and you will fail your exams... that is unless you run naked halfway across campus at midnight. I thought it best if we didn't risk it.
Courtney Carolyn Photography is located in Monroe, Michigan, but photographs couples for weddings and engagements all across the state including Detroit, Grand Rapids, Lansing, Ann Arbor, and Petoskey and photographs destination weddings around the country.
This was my first visit to this historic Belle Isle in Detroit, MI and as we all walked around the island I couldn't help but smile when Dylan would say something goofy to Lynette and then she would pull him in close to her. So cute. And they are so in love.
A few moments in front of the James Scott Memorial Fountain proved to be an adventure as the couple climbed up into the fountain to get a better view of the Detroit skyline (the park staff turn off the water at the beginning of fall). Lynette and I shared a total girl/chick flick moment as she said to Dylan, "I like your hair pushed back like that," and Dylan stared blankly at her. We all burst out laughing because apparently "Mean Girls" wasn't a movie on his must-watch list. We strolled over to the Belle Isle Casino and that's when Lynette brought out some balloons - BALLOONS - to incorporate as a prop in their shoot. I love when couples bring along pieces that represent their personality, relationship, or daily life because it gives us something fun to work with and adds depth to their story. :)
After a quick outfit change, Lynette adorned green and white and Dylan maze and blue at the Anna Scripps Whitcomb Conservatory to show their individual team spirits. I don't think the rivalry between Michigan State University (Lynette) and University of Michigan (Dylan) will end anytime soon as captured in their playful punching match, but these two still come together on most everything else.
A wonderful blue sky, painted with whispy white clouds, was the backdrop as the Mr. and Mrs.-to-be tossed the football around in front of the Nancy Brown Peace Carillon Tower.
(I first met Lynette and Dylan while freelancing my engagement photography skills for Fairytale Productions and I enjoyed capturing their love for each other on the beautiful Belle Isle in Detroit, Michigan! All photos were captured by Courtney Carolyn, but are Copyright to the amazing Fairytale Productions. To read more about why I collaborate and work with other photographers, check out this post.)
I want to wish Lynette and Dylan so much love and happiness at their engagement and I can not wait until your wedding next May!!
