Josh Proposes to Taylor in

Pop the champagne!! I’d like to make a toast because Josh proposed to Taylor in Hart Plaza and I had the honor of photographing the moment she said “YES!” It all began about 1 month prior when Josh emailed me about his plans to propose to his girlfriend, Taylor. Josh really wanted to make the day special and planned to go into Detroit on August 2nd to celebrate her birthday with a nice dinner, a concert, and, unbeknownst to Taylor, a surprise proposal right in the heart of downtown and he wanted a me there to photograph it!
We planned for an indoor rain location, just in case, but when August 2nd rolled around it couldn’t have been a more beautiful summer day in the city! I always get a little bit nervous with proposals because they can be so unpredictable and I need to be kind of in hiding right up until the big moment, but I made sure to go over the plan with Josh about a week before hand so he knew where I would be and where he needed to stop and stand. I made sure to arrive to Hart Plaza about 45 minutes before Josh’s scheduled proposal time to double check crowd levels and lighting, and I like to arrive to proposals a bit early because sometimes, the couple will be a bit ahead of schedule and I want to be ready. This was exactly the case with Josh and Taylor, but because I kept in communication via text messages with Josh, I was ready to go when they arrived to the plaza a bit earlier than planned.
Taylor was completely surprised when Josh dropped down to one knee in front of the Detroit skyline and I am so happy for these two! Raise a glass and congratulate the happy couple! Cheers!
