Romantic Plum, Blush, & Gold Detroit Athletic Club Wedding: Erin + Scott

Erin and Scott prepared for their wedding day at the beautiful and historic Detroit Athletic Club surrounded by their closest friends and loved ones! Erin was so at ease as she stepped into her Robert Bullock wedding gown which fit her perfectly! Scott looked very dapper and charming as he fixed his plum colored tie against his grey suit. Erin and Scott are so laid-back and fun that I felt so lucky to be welcomed in to capture their wedding day!

When I first met with Erin and Scott they told me their amazing proposal story. Erin and Scott had traveled Up North to the family's cabin near Traverse City, MI and they decided to pack some drinks in a backpack and head out for a hike near the lake! As they came to the top on one particularly beautiful overlook, Erin was enjoying the view when Scott tapped her on the shoulder. She turned to find him down on one knee and then they told me that the next 15 minutes were a blur of crying, excited yells, and phone calls to family! Erin and Scott spent the rest of the afternoon laying in the sunshine drinking champagne! How perfect, right?!?!

One special activity that Erin and Scott decided to do during the wedding ceremony, which was performed by a Judge whom Erin worked for previously, was a Celtic hand tying ceremony! This rather unique tradition allowed the bride and groom to literally tie the knot with with a handmade cord and with the help of six members of their family and/or friends! The funny thing is . . . each person ended up approaching the alter, spoke a few kind words, gave both Erin and Scott big hugs, and then started to head back to their seats before helping tie their portion of the knot!! It made for some really great laughs!

Erin and Scott were so much fun to work with and I could tell just how excited they both were to be at the beginning of their lives together! Scott is also one of those guys who you can't help but laugh with as he does something goofy - which I know Erin did often! Erin has such a big heart and the whole day she was really considerate and giving to everyone she encountered! At the end of the night we had the opportunity to head to the rooftop terrace for some epic firework pictures overlooking the Detroit Tiger's at Comerica Park!

Erin and Scott - I am beyond happy, excited, and full of hope for you both and your marriage! I feel so very honored to have been your wedding photographer and for the privilege of capturing these memories for you and your family! You both are near and dear to my heart and Scott and I felt welcomed in as your friends on your wedding day! I wish you both nothing by happiness and amazing adventures in your life together!

Love Always,

Courtney

All of Erin's details were classic and romantic!

Erin wore ivory colored Badgley Mischka heels and a stunning lace gown by Robert Bullock!

And . . . Can we talk about Erin's bouquet for a minute . . . IT IS GORGEOUS! If I had to look at one bouquet for the rest of my life it would be this blush and ivory creation by Scarlet Poppy!!

I am in love with this candid moment of Erin putting on her shoes and final details for the day!

Erin and her father also shared a first look before the ceremony and he couldn't help but boast to the onlookers how beautiful his daughter is!!

Erin!! This is my favorite portrait of you from the morning! I can totally see it as just an iconic image of you on your wedding day that your children will cherish some day!

That "Oh my gosh did we really just get married?!" face!
