Romantic Backyard Wedding at Lakeside Home, Ann Arbor, MI | Jess + Pat
I am kind of at a loss for words at describing Jess + Pat's amazing wedding day!! They invited their friends and family from all over the world to celebrate in a casual and intimate backyard setting. Their wedding was held at a lakeside family home in Ann Arbor and it was understated, elegant, fun, and will forever be close to my heart because every detail felt so personal to Jess and Pat!
This is one of the longer blog posts I've ever shared because I am so in love with these two and their romantic wedding day, and I couldn't help but share all of these amazing moments! I adore all the travel details Jess incorporated throughout the day because travel is a huge element of Jess and Pat's relationship. They even met while stationed in Japan! Jess told me she saw Pat for the first time when he was winning at beer pong and she was immediately drawn to his competitiveness and his smile. Jess has such a compassionate heart and adventurous spirit, and I loved hearing even more about her during the emotional toasts given by her maid of honor and her dad! Pat is one of those guys that is just super chill, outgoing, and charismatic, and he has such a great sense of humor! Pat is a die-hard Michigan State fan and he even wore a custom dress shirt with MSU themed sleeves! Jess describes Pat as her perfect other half and Pat described Jess as thebomb.com.
Jess and Pat's ceremony by the lake and al fresco style reception was nothing short of a dream! These two shared a first look followed by some of the most romantic portraits EVER!!! Throughout the whole day it was so evident how in love Jess and Pat are and they were such a joy to work with because they are both so laid-back and easy going. And they got the perfect fall weather with comfortable temperatures, overcast skies, and not a drop of rain in sight which meant they didn't have to put up a tent for the reception and guests danced the night away under the stars.
Jess and Pat, I feel so incredibly honored to have been your wedding photographer and to be a witness to your love for each other! Scott and I felt so incredibly welcomed at your celebration and I loved focusing on all the candid interactions between you and your loved ones. I wish you both nothing but love, laughter, and many, many more adventures together!

Jess and Pat shared a first look and I love how elegant Jess looked coming down the stairs towards Pat! After they had a few minutes to themselves we walked around the property and I captured some of my favorite romantic portraits to date!!
Jess and Pat's lakefront ceremony was so beautiful!! I loved focusing on the bride and groom, their parents, and their friends throughout the entire ceremony because there was so much love and joy on every watching face.
After the new Mr. and Mrs. popped the champagne and toasted with their wedding party, they made their grand entrance to the reception! I love this candid moment of Jess and Pat and how happy they look! After cutting their map-themed cake, after toasts were given, and dinner served, the fun really began out on the dance floor! Before the end of the night, Jess and Pat stepped away from the party to take it all in and I grabbed a couple epic end of the night portraits of them by the lake.
