Modern Kensington Court Wedding, Ann Arbor, MI: Jen + Kyle

On Sunday mornings, a lot of people like to sleep in, make each other breakfast, go for a walk with the dog(s), sip coffee, and read the newspaper (although I guess most people do that on their smart phones now). On one such Sunday morning, however, Kyle woke up at 6 AM because he just couldn't stay asleep any longer; he was just too excited. After taking Jen's dog, Nala, for a walk and watching the minutes tick by to 7 o'clock, Kyle couldn't stand it any longer! Enough was enough!

Kyle quietly pulled out an engagement ring from the spot he had been hiding it in and quickly slipped it into his pocket. He walked over to Jen's side of the bed and kneeled down on one knee. Kyle softly rubbed Jen's cheek and head to wake her up (an act in and of itself that was pretty normal). With a little bit more prodding, Jen grumpily woke up and was immediately confused to see Kyle kneeling on her side of the bed. Kyle then said, "Jen, I have a question to ask you." Oblivious to what was going on in her tired morning haze, Jen irritably responded with, "What?!" Kyle then pulled out the ring from his pocket and asked Jen to marry him!!

I can only imagine how Jen must have sprang to alertness at this and how all was forgiven for waking her up so early on a Sunday under the circumstances! Ha! Jen and Kyle are one of those couples you just can't help but love! They both are so generous, hilarious, and so enthusiastic about doing life together, that it made photographing their modern and elegant wedding day such a blast!

Jen and Kyle's wedding took place at Kensington Court in Ann Arbor, MI and there were so many gorgeous purple, grey, and stylish details as well as heart-felt moments that I just couldn't get enough! Jen's bridal details were so classic and she thought of everything, including a sixpence for her shoe (a bridal detail I don't see very often)! Jen, of course, had her own unique twist though, and instead of just any ol' penny she had a flatted Disney penny from the Magic Kingdom.

Jen and Kyle - I can't thank you ENOUGH for how honored I feel to have been your wedding photographer! Scott and I will always hold your wedding day near and dear to our hearts! We wish you both nothing but happiness, love, and many many adventures together.

Love,

Courtney

I hope you enjoy some of my favorites from Jen + Kyle's wedding day!

What an emotional first look with Dad! It was just such a sweet moment and then Jen was off to share a first look with Kyle! I could literally feel all the nerves melt away after Kyle and Jen saw one-another and that allowed them to be so excited for their ceremony and not nervous at all!

After Jen and Kyle were done sharing their few private minutes alone, we joined up with the wedding party (who were also so funny and they were such troopers in the humid weather)!

Jen and Kyle's ceremony had so many unique and special details that it's hard not to mention them all! First, there was this beautiful chuppah adorned with fresh flowers in the grand ballroom and then everything from Jen's entrance to their laughter filled vows to their animated Jr. Groomsmen (who covered his eyes as Jen and Kyle kissed!) and their animated Ringbearer (who gave the thumbs up as he walked down the aisle!), was just amazing and so personal! They even had the pianist who played at Jen's parent's wedding perform the ceremony music!

Jen and Kyle's reception had purple and blue uplighting, gold chandeliers, and all the tables were lit with candle light and it felt like walking into a modern fairytale!

After the cake was cut and the champagne was popped, Jen and her Dad shared their father-daughter dance! These two could not stop laughing and were just having so much fun moving around the dance floor! As the party got started and general dancing began, I snuck outside with Jen and Kyle for a couple end of the night photographs! I feel like these images were the PERFECT ending to a PERFECT day and for a girl who loves Disney!
