Iconic Black Tie Wedding at The Detroit Masonic Temple: Lauren + Marcus
I am SO excited to share Lauren and Marcus' iconic black tie wedding, today, which was held at the historic Masonic Temple in Detroit, MI! If you are looking for some classic, elegant, sophisticated, and timeless wedding inspiration look no further because this wedding seriously gave me all the heart eyes and all the feels!
Lauren and Marcus are such a glamorous, down-to-earth couple and when I first learned what they do for a living they also earned bad ass status in my eyes! These two are active duty Air Force pilots, and they fly something called the AWACS E-3 for a living - which if you look it up is pretty darn legit! Lauren explained to me, that she and Marcus first met while they were attending Air Force Pilot Training in Texas. She also told me she thought Marcus was a total jerk at first!
They were both in the most rigorous year of their lives, however, when Marcus started to grow on Lauren. With the help of Marcus' handwritten notes placed in Lauren's locker, his offers to cook her dinner after work, and the creation of helpful study guides for her flight simulations, Lauren decided to give Marcus a chance and they began dating exclusively. After 6 months of dating, strenuous training, and after many evenings binge watching Netflix together, Marcus proposed to Lauren at an Annual Charity Auction with a ring that had belonged to his great-grandmother! How awesome, right?!
Lauren and Marcus' romantic black tie wedding began as Lauren stepped into her regal, ivory-colored ball gown with the help of her mom and bridesmaids who wore red, floor length ball gowns. This winter wedding had so many beautiful details, which were evident throughout the day, but they didn't overpower the classic style of the wedding and they complimented the grand architecture of the Masonic Temple wonderfully. Just when I thought Lauren couldn't look any more stunning, she slipped on a beaded jacket over the sweetheart bodice and tied a neutral-colored ribbon sash at her waist! It was now time for the first look, and I couldn't help but think Lauren looked a little bit like a Victorian princess ready to meet her prince!
Marcus stood in the atrium window light in his old fashioned tux with tails waiting for Lauren's entrance. As Marcus turned around to see Lauren for the first time, he pursed his lips and walked quickly to her. A few tears and lots of smiles followed their sweet embrace as Lauren and Marcus enjoyed these precious private moments before the wedding ceremony.
Lauren and Marcus, I could go on and on about all the amazing-ness that was your beautiful wedding day - from your vows to your first dance set to Sleeping Beauty's "Once Upon a Dream" to your cake smash - but I just want to say how incredibly honored I feel to have been your wedding photographer! I feel so blessed to have been welcomed into your family for the day and to capture these memories for you! I wish you both nothing but happiness, laughter, and many more adventures in your new life together.
