Charming Destination Wedding, Traverse City, MI: Wilma + Joseph

From the beginning, I knew Wilma and Joe's wedding day would be different. They expressed that they didn't want the traditional wedding day with lots and lots of people in attendance and a long reception at the end of the night where dancing is really the only option for guests.

Instead Wilma and Joe's desire was to have a celebration with about thirty of their closest family and friends, a ceremony overlooking the bay at the beautiful winery and restaurant, Mission Table, in Traverse City, MI, and then a laid-back, quick reception lunch before loading everyone up on a tour bus to travel around Traverse City for a historical and sight seeing adventure! So much fun, right?!

I met Wilma and Joe through the amazingly talented Brittany Alies Photography as her second shooter for the day, and once Wilma reached the alter, her son (who had escorted her down the aisle) gave his mother a quick hug and then lovingly placed Wilma's hand in Joe's awaiting hand, stretched out to take hers.

This whole wedding day was so intimate and unique, and I know it will be one that I never forget! Wilma + Joe, it was an honor to be there as one of your wedding photographers! I want to say how awesome I think it is that you both embraced the things you wanted and decided to go a bit against tradition when it came to your destination wedding! I wish you a lifetime of love and adventures together!

Love Always,

Courtney Carolyn

Such a stunning ceremony backdrop! Wilma, Joe, and their guests had a beautiful view from the Old Mission Peninsula!

Wilma's details were classic and elegant right down to her white rose bouquet and her vintage inspired wedding gown with it's lace detailing and delicate beads!

After the intimate "I dos" and fireside cocktail hour, Wilma and Joe enjoyed a simple yet sophisticated lunch reception.

They are just so cute together!

From the reception, guests boarded the tour bus and traveled to a local winery, Hawthorne Vineyards, for some wine tasting while taking in more of those scenic views!

From wine tasting, the couple and their guests stopped for a historical tour of Grand Traverse Commons and to walk around in downtown Traverse City.

Wilma and Joe saved the best spot for last on their traveling reception adventure; Sleeping Bear Dunes at sunset! (P.S. Wilma. You deserve some applause for climbing up the sandy dunes in your wedding dress!)

Everything from the sweet ceremony to the spectacular light at sunset was amazing and most importantly, preserving these memories for the couple was more than worth the 5 hour drive to this destination wedding!
