Allie and Stan's wedding day is one for the books!! Not only are these two an amazing, fun couple with impeccable taste, but their wedding day was also a day full of surprises! The forecast called for 80% chance of thunderstorms for their planned outdoor ceremony and reception at the Chapman House, but luckily with some quick thinking, they were able to have their intimate ceremony outside under a tent. . .Read More
I am freaking out over here, friends!! Katie and Josh’s wedding day was so amazing and Katie made SUCH a gorgeous bride! I am pouring myself a refreshing cup of hot apple cider this morning as I look back on their elegant and romantic fall wedding day! Katie and Josh were my last CCP Couple to get married this year and I loved all the thoughtful and personal details they incorporated into their church wedding and river front reception. . .Read More
Within the dense greenery of the Huron National Forest surrounding us, Shayna walked down the aisle barefoot as a cello player strummed soft love notes and as she reached her soon-to-be husband, Matt, he was unable to hold back a truly happy grin from ear to ear. This wedding day is so very close to my heart as I have known Shayna for years and when she told me that she was engaged and that they were holding a wedding weekend where everyone would camp and enjoy one-another for a few days around the ceremony and marriage celebration, all I could think was.... it was SO her! In it's simplicity, it was so beautiful. It was sweet. And I was honored to be counted among their family and friends in attendance as Shayna and Matt exchanged their vows.
I think there are moments in life when an event truly refreshes you in spirit and in mind. Shayna and Matt's wedding in the woods near South Branch, MI was a vacation for me ironically as I was an invited guest along with my love, Scott, and Shayna being a very free and creative soul herself welcomed any additional pictures and moments that I might capture. Shayna has the biggest, kindest heart and I want nothing but heaps of love and blessings for her and Matt's married life together. I have come to find that I so enjoy weddings where there is a focus on the experience and where family and friends come together in a natural and effortless manner all in the name of love.
Shayna and Matt I want nothing but good things for you both and I can't wait to hear all about your adventures together in this next chapter in your life! During the ceremony, I put down my camera just soaking in being there with you amongst the trees and fully in the moment. When Matt's uncle asked you to say your vows my heart burst and I let out a deep breath. It was a moment and a time that I will never forget and I thank you.

Sometimes when you know, you know. Why wait? That was the mantra of the small, family-focused and a little bit spontaneous wedding ceremony of Amanda and Josh. These two are so very near and dear to my heart, and I was so excited to be counted among the handful of immediate family that they decided to say "I do," in front of. I have known Amanda and Josh throughout most of their relationship and am so, SO happy for them!
It was a beautiful fall day for this cozy, little backyard celebration in Plymouth, MI. The idea of the day was simple, yet romantic as these two lives entwined to become one, to follow the same path. A few pictures were captured in the pre-wedding hour, when guests arrived, kisses were exchanged, laughs echoed through the house, and rings were admired all the while the wife and husband to-be would steal glances at one another from across the room.
The ceremony was officiated by a friend of the couple and even though both the bride and groom stumbled over repeating a few lines here and there, they gave their family a good laugh and cry. A feeling of intense love was in the air from those present and from those watching over the celebration. The ceremony was sealed with a kiss and a crunch of a glass bottle under the groom's foot and we all got swept into the house to toast and dot the I's and cross the T's for the state.
Amanda and Josh I am so happy for the both of you and can't say congrats enough!
I was asked to photograph the spontaneous and intimate backyard wedding of Gabby and Misha just 3 weeks before the I dos on July 6th. The wedding took place at the bride's family home, where she got ready and wore in a vintage tea length wedding dress that worked beautifully for this small, personal ceremony. Gabby's mother designed their home and backyard with a lot of really cool personal art and paid close attention to detail - that as a photographer I just love! I am such a visual person and when I get the honor to photograph a wedding where the bride and groom also have a good attention to detail and visual design it just makes my day.
Gabby and Misha's love is that of two old souls. When they first met, Misha was an exchange student from Russia and although his parents couldn't attend the ceremony in person, they joined in the celebration via Skype.
I am sososo in love with all the moments and images from this wedding and it just goes to show that you can have a beautiful, small DIY wedding on a budget. But don't forget that if you put in all the work to create DIY details, make sure to invest in a professional photographer to document all the hard work you put into creating the atmosphere!
