As a very young girl, I found something so beautiful about ballerinas and I couldn't help but want to follow in their pointe shoe footsteps! I think my love of ballerinas all started when my mother read the book, "Ballet Shoes" by Noel Streatfeild to my sister and I, and it was enhanced every Christmas when my grandmother would take us to the Fox Theater to see The Nutcracker. Unfortunately, I never got past the admiration stage because I quickly realized that I didn't quite have the natural grace required for the ballet and that I'd rather just sing along with Elton John's Tiny Dancer! . . .

It has been such a crazy busy August and September for me because I have been photographing engagement sessions and weddings almost non-stop every weekend this fall! (Even though the weather for the most part has still felt like summer with temperatures in the mid-70's!!) I road tripped out to St. Joseph, MI for Jessica and Sheamus' destination engagement session on the beach and HOLY MOLY, friends, are you in for a treat!! These two were so awesome in front of the camera, and we had one of the most amazing sunsets I've ever seen as our backdrop! . . .

Being by the water and at the beach is definitely my happy place! When I get to travel to a beautiful Michigan beach AND photograph an engagement session at the same time, I am in HEAVEN!! Kristen and Dave's engagement session has become one of my all-time favorites (although I'm pretty sure I say that about every new engagement and wedding I shoot! Ha!). . .

Ashley + Tim | Romantic Sunset Beach Engagement, St. Joseph, MI

The roar of the waves as they crashed against the sandy beach was deafening as Ashley and Tim walked along the shores of Lake Michigan. Tim reached for Ashley's hand and she took it willingly, and then cuddled in a little closer to Tim as they walked. The dreamy golden light of the setting sun streamed through Ashley's hair, adding to the romantic feeling of their engagement shoot. The sun mixed with the picturesque surroundings of Silver Beach, along with Ashley's long, dark green dress, and Tim's ability to make them both crack up in laughter made for such an amazing engagement session! . . .

I had the honor and the privilege to work with some pretty awesome couples in 2016, and I wanted to be sure to share some of my all-time favorites from their engagement sessions. These images make me fall in love all over again with my job, and were narrowed down from 626 overall favorites from 2016! But I wanted to share only the best of the best on this post today!

Autumn Apple Orchard Engagement: Ericka + Michael

On a warm night, while walking the streets of Savannah, Georgia, Michael silently pondered just the right moment to reach into his pocket and propose to Ericka, the beautiful woman walking beside him. While his mind was focused on timing, Ericka's was none the wiser and ready to try some of the delicious food they'd been hearing so much about. Michael had to rethink his timing for the moment and the next evening, as the sun began to set over the big, draping branches of the Spanish Moss, he planned a private carriage ride around the city.
