Lauren + Marcus | Belle Isle Conservatory Engagement, Detroit, MI
I could not wait to share this engagement session with Lauren and Marcus which took place at the Belle Isle Conservatory in Detroit!
Two weeks before Lauren and Marcus' wedding, during our final planning meeting, they decided to go forward with holding an engagement session! We had to schedule it 2 days before their wedding at the architecturally stunning Masonic Temple because they would only just be arriving in town a couple days in advance to the wedding. Lauren and Marcus live in Oklahoma during the rest of the year, but because their families are from Michigan & Ohio, they decided to hold their wedding in Detroit. I am SO glad that Lauren spontaneously decided we should shoot some engagement photos for them because I had a blast getting to know them better and Lauren just looked so stunning in her berry colored dress! ..... (And guys, if you love her outfits at this engagement session, just wait until I get their wedding blog post up and you see her wedding dress! Ah!!)
When you are in the midst of planning for your wedding, I know it can become overwhelming looking at all the checklists, magazine articles, inspiration boards, and things you need to think about in order to prepare for your big day. I really feel for couples in this season of information overload and all the info that is out there specifically in regards to photography. This is why I offer my most helpful suggestions and answers to the most commonly asked photography questions to my clients throughout the wedding planning process!
It's hard to know what advice to follow when you are reading so many different pieces of wedding advice and so, in an effort to help, I like to send my brides informational guides compiled from my years of experience photographing engagements and weddings.
Before Lauren and Marcus' engagement session at Belle Isle in Detroit, I sent them my Engagement Session Style Guide which includes everything from choosing the right location for your portraits to coordinating outfits to the little details you don't want to forget about. I think they totally ROCKED their engagement photos and can I gush one last time about their unbelievable outfits for a minute - gorgeous taste and Lauren has such an eye for style! I believe that because they were given the tools to prepare, that allowed both Lauren and Marcus to relax, be themselves, and to most importantly have fun at their engagement session!
Lauren and Marcus - I had so much fun with you both at your engagement session and I think it made it all the more special that I captured these portraits and then 2 days later your wedding! I feel like I got to know you both so well because both the engagement and wedding were really close together.
